One of the Parents involved with the campaign wrote the following summary recently to explain why we have set this group up .. We thought we would share with you all, also it could be used as the basis of a conversation starter or awareness raising message on other Kings Heath and Moseley related Facebook/Web Sites.
You may be aware that 7 local primary and secondary schools are entering a formal consultation process on their proposal to form a multi-academy trust (MAT). The schools are Kings Heath Primary, Park Hill Primary, Wheelers Lane Primary, Kings Heath Boys, Queensbridge, Swanshurst and Wheelers Lane Technology College.
This is a significant (and irreversible) step. If you are an existing or prospective parent or carer at any of these schools and want to learn more, there is a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/KingsHeathMoseleySchoolsAskTheParents/ and website kingheathasktheparents.wordpress.com .
This is a very complicated topic, even for people who work in education – We have been up a very steep learning curve about this in the last few weeks!
If you have questions or concerns, it is important that you write to the school governing bodies about these as soon as possible – things are moving quickly, and the schools break up at the end of this week. Alternatively, you may wish to add your name to a letter that concerned parents will be sending to the schools in the next day or two, or to use this as a basis of your own letter.
